Well, the algorithms don’t like the word “fertile” apparently, so I’m rebranding the Patreon and the “public facing” name of “The Fertile Galaxy” to be just “Frjósöm” — which is Icelandic for…

… fertile.

I searched all kinds of words to use as a kind of “code word”, but this one felt both unique and quirky. A little bit alien, but a little bit fun.

This will probably prompt me to add a number of Icelandic references to the stories. I mean, why wouldn’t Iceland be the country that outlasts all the others and ends up affecting the far-future galaxy out of all proportion to its current size and cultural footprint? Iceland is amazing, and Icelanders are an impressive people. They’ve got it in them, and making them the idealogical parents of humanity as it spreads across the galaxy seems entirely plausible!

So now this page’s Patreon handle is just “frjosom”. The universe I’m creating is “The Frjósöm Universe” — but I’m still going to refer to the general story collection as “Tales from the/our Fertile Galaxy”.
